Clay Mine Details
The East Fairfield Coal Co. strip mines clay and coal at the company's Clark Mine. After the overburden above the coal is displaced, a layer of coal is removed. Under the coal is a layer of clay that is then mined. The final step in the process is the reclamation of the area. The mine is located near Enon Valley, PA. The clay removed from the mine is used by numerous brick and tile manufacturers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Canada.
